I truly adore this series.
And I had been looking forward to Bull’s story since we met him in book 1.
And how he was in this book, yes he was cruel at times to Mia and it was a bit hard to take. And I thought to myself, if this was a book with a brand new to me hero, I had not met before, I might not have been able to take his actions and behaviour.
But, after book 1, where we know his history, we know just how deep the darkness in him is, what battle he fights on a daily basis just to keep on living, in this book, we knew why he was as he was.
We also get some Bull POV here, and the guilt he lives with just magnifies when he meets Mia, as she gives him the first peace he has known in years. And he feels he does not deserve this peace.
What follows is probably the best book of the series, ( and I have truly enjoyed the previous books). It is so emotional and heart felt, and heart wrenching.
But, while Bull is never going to be as openly affectionate as Cade and Brock, as that is just not who he is, how he was with “his girls” toward the end, was beautiful.
And we not only see Bull finally feel able to deserve a partner, we get to watch him fall in love not just with a woman, but with her daughter, and he changes in so many ways, from a broken shell of a man living in darkness, to a man, a father standing in the light.
And while I feel this is Bull’s story, maybe as we knew him and had hoped for HEA for him, Mia was just as engaging a character. Knowing she is hiding something, scared of something, ruining from that same thing, but she had created a beautiful life for her daughter, and their relationship was awesome.
A beautiful 5 stars
