★Review★
I have had this series sat on my kindle for a fair few months.
I really liked the premise of the story, but for me, the execution was not as good as it could have been.
I would have maybe liked more from them from before. Not just the glimpses of dreams she had. We are told she had known the family for a long time, before she got involved with Ethan. But being told is not enough. A bit of page time given over to the history, could have improved the story.
The lack of chemistry between Rachel and Ethan troubled me. She did seem to have more of a connection to his brother Garrett.
I would have liked to have an impression of her as a character before she is kidnapped. All we see of her is a traumatized victim, and for me, them solving their relationship difficulties a bit sooner would have improved it. But right to the end, it is still up in the air and a very traumatized relationship. What made them even get together in the first place, other than it seems Ethan getting jealous over her being asked out by one of the other brothers.
The side story of Rusty, interesting, but took away from what would have made me connect with the 2 main characters more. Ie some back story and an insight into who they actually were as people, other than a traumatized victim and guilt ridden grieving husband.
BUT, as I say, I did like the idea of the story, liked the secondary characters, such as Sam, Donovan, Garrett and Steele (especially Steele). If I did not have some more books of this series already on my kindle (curse my 1 click finger making buy up nearly an entire series that catches my interest before I have even read book 1) I may not continue, but since I have got further books in the series, and there are a couple of the KGI men I really want to read about, I will continue on.
A decent did not quite live up to its promise 3 stars.
