★Review★

This book was ok for me but just ok.

I found I struggled with really connecting to either character, Beth especially.

She came across as just having a huge chip on her shoulder about Drew and his upbringing and wealth. She constantly managed to make him feel shame for the life he had had compared to her.

She spent far too much of the time, focused on her bad “genes” she came form “questionable roots” the “wrong side of the tracks” etc and on and on. It got a bit much tbh, and it took too long for her history to really come out, and even then it was mentioned and brushed over so quick, it was still hard to feel much sympathy for her.

I just never managed to connect with her properly, as she just came across as very derisive of Drew due to his “opportunities” that she had not had. And there was not enough of being in Drew’s head for me to ever really feel a proper connection to him either.

All in, it was 2 stars for me, as I did enjoy it, but it most certainly is not a re read and is probably easily forgotten.
